Obituary

Larry (Butch) Young, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on November 11, 2023 peacefully at his home at the age of 75. Born on February 27, 1948, in Alamance County. His parents were the late Howard Young and Myrtle (Sue) Young.

Larry worked in the textile industry, while also umpiring baseball and softball games. He was a devoted and hard worker, leaving a lasting impact on everyone, especially his son Robert.

Larry had a variety of interests that he loved; fishing, hunting, and playing golf.

Larry was a devoted family man and cherished the time spent with his family. He was married to Johnnie Fay Young, for 49 years until her passing. He had a loving home with his son Robert, his daughter Angie, and his son in law Daniel Whitt. Larry was also proud of his grandchildren Dillon Whitt and Deirdre Williamson.

Larry lived in Spartanburg, South Carolina for 30 years before returning to Graham North Carolina where he lived for 44 years. He made lasting impressions with people in those communities, leaving behind many fond friendships with those that knew him.

Larry had two brothers Jerry and Wayne Young who have also passed. Their memories will be forever held dear by all the family members.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Larry (Butch) name to the Bible Wesleyan Church & School located at 106 Moores Chapel Cemetery Road, Graham, NC 27253. This gesture will support the Lord’s work which was dear to Larry’s heart.

Larry (Butch) will be remembered as a devoted family man, hard worker, and someone who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
