Phillip (Phil) Stafford Mabry, 83, born September 16, 1940, in Alamance County, to Sam and Elizabeth Mabry, passed away on November 22, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, James Byron Mabry and Dennis Wayne Mabry.
Phil enlisted in the Army in 1955 and was listed as a sharpshooter in 1956 and 1957. He transitioned into a career as an electrician in 1962 that led him in to working in 19 different states as well as Puerto Rico. He also worked as a carpenter, welder and was the owner of a pawn shop for many years. When he lived in Florida he worked as an electrician for Boeing in the space program during the Mercury Project.
He had a passion for hunting and traveling. He has traveled to all 50 states and drove to Alaska when it was a 1000 miles of gravel road. His favorite thing to do was jump in the car and take off on a road trip. If he wasn’t on a road trip you could find him in the woods hunting. He went to places such as Idaho, British Columbia, Florida, New York and Minnesota. When he lived in Deadwood, South Dakota one of his favorite places to hunt was the Black Hills. He spent his life doing the things he loved as often as he could.
